Born in St. Louis Missouri in 1935, Grant Green started performing at an early age. In his mid-twenties, he was discovered by Lou Donaldson, who urged him to come to New York in 1960. In the early 60’s, his albums released on Blue Note launched his career into the jazz public’s eye and he was the most-recorded artist on the label between 1960 and 1965.
